Shipping Carriers page:

Used to define the Shipping Carriers and Shipping Options and that will be available for product orders.  The first step is to create a carrier.  The next step is to define the shipping methods and rates for the carrier.  The shopping cart checkout process automatically determines which Shipping Carriers and Shipping Methods are permissible for the customer’s Ship To Country and State based on the options you have configured in Shipping Carrier Management.

Carrier section:

  • Shipping Carrier:  enter the Company Name for the Shipping Carrier.  This is what the customer will see in the Shipping Carrier list box in the Shipping Options step of the Shopping Checkout process.
  • Tracking URL: enter the Shipping Carrier’s Tracking URL.  This will be used on the Order Status page to provide a link to the Carrier’s website where the customer can track the status of their shipment. PortalProdigy will automatically append the Tracking Number when the customer clicks on the link in order to automatically retrieve the customer’s shipment tracking status.
  • Active: set to “Yes” to enable the Shipping Carrier.  Set to “No” to disable the Shipping Carrier.

Methods section:

Use this section to enter shipping methods to be offered for the selected shipping carrier.  For each method you may define specific pricing for specific combinations of the ship to country and state.

  •   click on this button to create new shipping method for the selected Carrier.

  • Country: used to specify the country that the shipping method applies to.  The list box lists all countries that have been enabled in Country Management.  Country Management is accessible on the Features Management menu.  Either select a specific country or select “All Other”.  The “All Other” option is used to define the shipping fees for all other enabled countries that do not have a shipping method specifically defined for the country.  E.g. you may define specific rates for shipment within the USA and then use “All Other” to define rates to be used by all countries other than the USA.
  • State: used to specify the state or province that the shipping method applies to.  When country is set to USA, Canada, or Mexico, the list box lists all states or Provinces for the selected country.  For all other countries it only lists the option “All Other”.  Either select a specific state or select “All Other”.  The “All Other” option is used to define the shipping fees for all other states or provinces.  If the same rates apply to all states or provinces then set to “All Other”.
  • Method: used to enter a description of the shipping method.  Once customers select a Carrier they are offered a list of methods available for the selected carrier for their ship to country and state.
  • Fixed Fee:  used to enter a fee amount that is always added to the shipping charge in addition to the other fees.  It is a good practice to explain this in your Order Policies / Terms & Conditions page.
  • Min Fee:  used to enter a minimum fee amount that is charged in lieu of the Rate Per Pound or % of Sales when the calculated Rate Per Pound or % of Sales Fee amount is less than the Minimum Fee amount.
  • Rate Per Pound:  used to enter a rate that shall be applied to the Order’s total Shipping Weight for all Items.  Leave it blank or set to zero to cause PORTALPRODIGY to use the % of Sales method instead of Rate Per Pound method for determining the Shipping Fee.
  • % of Sales:  used to enter a rate that shall be applied to the Orders total Order Items amount for determining the Shipping Fee.   When an amount is entered into Rate Per Pound, PORTALPRODIGY will not apply the % of Sales method.
  • Free if Order: used to enter an order dollar amount that qualifies for free shipping.  When the customer’s order is greater than or equal to this amount, no fee is charged for shipment by this method.
  • Active:  set to Yes to list this Shipping Method as a valid choice in the Shipping Methods list box.  Set to No to disable this Shipping Method.
  • Delete:  the  option is only displayed for existing method records.  Click on the  icon to delete the Shipping Method.
  • Copy Method: the  option is only displayed for existing method records.  Click on the  icon to create a new Method record as a copy of the existing method record.  This is time saver when configuring methods for different combinations of ship to Country and State.

When finished adding a new Method or editing an existing method be sure to save by either clicking    or   and confirming save.
